How do I use dictation in the AI assistant, and can I type while it is on?

Click the dictation (microphone) button at the bottom of the AI assistant chat and speak your prompt. While you talk you see a waveform, and your words are turned into the prompt text. Talking makes it easy to give the AI a lot of detail, which gets better results.

You cannot type while dictation is running. Type or paste first (for example a website address) and then start dictation; the dictated text is added to the end of what you typed. Or finish dictating, stop it, and then type. If you type or paste while it is still dictating, the prompt may already have been submitted.

Some people prefer a dictation app or a keyboard key on their computer. Handy (handy.computer) is a free, open source speech-to-text tool that runs locally on Mac and PC.
